Last Sleep before Maggie

Mom and I had dinner with our guide, Rebecca, and another couple here from North Carolina.  They are adopting a little 13 month old girl and she will join their other 4 precious children.  I really liked them and enjoyed meeting them tonight.  Bless their hearts as they flew in today at noon and I don't know how they were still awake.

We meet in the lobby tomorrow at 2:00 to leave for the Civil Affairs offices.  It is there that I will get Maggie.  I have packed her diaper bag - I'm sure way too much stuff!  LOL  I have made up the gifts for the orphanage director and nannies and have all the cameras charged.  I think I am ready to go.

Thoughts on my last night without a child.  I am not nervous at all, I am just so ready for this next stage of my life.  I feel like God has prepared me for this process and I know that He will be with both Maggie and me tomorrow.  I pray for her sleep tonight that she will be rested and feel peace as she leaves tomorrow to drive to Guangzhou.  I found out that it is a 4 hour trip instead of 6 hours that i thought.  I am very pleased with that as they will not have to get her up so early for the drive.

God, please prepare Maggie's little heart as she sleeps tonight.  I pray that she knows about me and will be receptive to my arms.  Lord, I pray that you will give me the calming voice and arms that will provide comfort to her.  Please help me know how to soothe her.  I pray that you will remove the language barrier.  I love her so much and I thank you for allowing me to experience being a mom.  You have led this process from the beginning and I am so grateful that I have this opportunity to grow with You.

My daughter, Sheng.  You are so loved by me and your grandmother.  Your uncle, aunt and cousins are very excited to see you as well.  There is a host of other family and friends that have prayed for you and are looking forward to seeing your sweet face.  I promise you so much love and happiness.  I am praying for the time you will learn about Jesus.  I cannot wait to see Jesus through you little eyes.  God has provided this miracle for us and has chosen you to be my daughter.  I will try my best to be a good mom and I pray that you will forgive me for the "oops" in life.  My heart is very full thinking of our first day together.

I love you my sweet girl,

Mom

I am so excited for you. All around there are signs from above. I met a couple yesterday that live in Alabaster. They adopted their daughter Olivia in May from Guangzhou. She is an absolutely precious, tiny toddler who loves her mommy and daddy.
I know Maggie will feel exactly the same. You have so much love to give and family and friends there with you in spirit waiting for the three of you to arrive back home safely.

Sleep well and take lots of pictures. I can't wait until tomorrow.

    Love.

    B.

You are probably just waking up and preparing for the day. I remember sitting outside Starbucks with my sister and SIL and preparing the questions to ask the nannies! I also ran into a single Mom today at a consignment store with her daughter who was adopted in Guangzhou in 2002. I told her about your day today and how exciting it is to be able to share this moment. Have a wonderful day. You are blessed for sure.

PS: As I decorate my house for Christmas, I'm glad I bought a red silk table runner for my table and lots of Cloisonne ornaments. Wish I had bought more, but don't know where I would have put them in my luggage. They are so inexpensive in China...buy lots!
