RUMORS - Major PRAYER REQUEST!!!

Well, the rumors are flying!  It looks like China is going to be issuing some restrictions to their adoption process.  Who knows if any of these rumors are true or to the degree they are true but it does seem that something is coming down the pike.  We have no idea why they are doing this.  Some rumors are that they are concerned that there are no girls to marry their boys (duh, did it take them that long to figure that one out?).  Also, that due to the Olympics, they want to "look" good to the world.  In other words, ignore the fact that they have orphans (like that could happen).

Last week, I received a call from Anna, my social worker.  She wanted to know if I had heard the rumors floating around about singles adopting.  I told her that I had heard them over the past 6 months or so but hadn't heard anything definite.  She said that our contact in China, Lilly, has been trying to see if any of the rumors are true but Lily cannot get any confirmations from them.

Here are a few of the rumors that are said to start on December 1.  Who knows if any or all of them are true.  And if they are, precedent is that I am already Logged In in China so I should be grandfathered in.  Please pray specifically that these rumors are NOT true or are temporary.  There are so many people out there that will lose their dreams and money if they are turned away.

  1. They may cancel all future adoptions with singles.
  2. The cut off for adopting ANY child (special needs or non-special needs) is 45 years old.  I will be 43 next week so this should not be a problem for me.
  3. Both of the parents must have "some" college education.  I have this one down - graduate of Auburn University in 85.
  4. Any criminal activity except for speeding tickets or parking tickets will disqualify a person.  I'm also okay on this one - WHEW, boy am I glad I was a goody twoshoes....
  5. Certain medical conditions may further disqualify a person.  This one is definitely a prayer request!  I have type II diabetes and am working on controlling it but am still on medication.
  6. One parent overweight - weighing more than 300 lbs.  This is not a problem either.
  7. Annual household income must be over $30,000.  I don't have a problem with this one either.
  8. They may restrict the number of children you can have in your family.  I don't have an issue with this one either.

After writing all of these out, I feel better.  There are not many that will pertain to me except for the single and medical ones.  I just pray that whatever comes true that GOD's Will be done.  HE has always been in control of this adoption and He will continue to be.  I just could not imagine losing "my Maggie" before I even meet her.  I know that I have a daughter in China and I already feel like she is my baby.  Please pray for the CCAA (China's governmental agency) to be fair and understanding.  I know that they are communist so nothing they do makes sense to me but there are so many orphans in that country that just need someone to love them.

Thank you all for your continued support and love.  In His Love,

Tricia
