I met with Anna today.  What I thought was our last face to face meeting for the homestudy was just the 3rd out of 4 meetings.  China requires 4 face to face meetings with an adoptive family.  I will go back on Feb. 20 to watch a video on the people of China and what they think of the American's adopting their children.

 

Just when I thought I had everything, one more piece of paperwork is needed.  I have to have the Pelham police department write a letter on their letterhead stating that I have not be convicted of any crimes.  I ordered the letter this afternoon and will pick it up in the morning on my way to work.  Whew, that one was easy.

 

I sent off my 1-600A today to the CIS and Homeland Security in Atlanta.  According to Anna, they will send me a note that they received the form and my check for $615 and within 2 weeks will set me up with an FBI fingerprint appointment.  After my appt, it will take about 4 - 5 weeks to get the information ready.

 

In the meantime, Anna said she may have my Homestudy report ready for me to proof on the 20th.  The Homestudy must be sent to CIS before they will issue me my I-171H.  Once the I-171H is sent back, my dossier will go to China.

 

I asked Anna today what time frame she thought that we were looking at.  She said not to get too optomistic that my referral will come in Dec. but Jan. looks more like it.  But you never know!

 

I should be able to pick up my medical form in a few days from my doctor and that will complete my homestudy packet.  My spiritual gift of administration is coming into play here!!!!!  For those who know me, big surprise, right?
